These air-fried onion rings are light, crunchy, and golden-perfect as a snack or side. Coated in a seasoned panko breadcrumb mixture and cooked until crisp, they’re delicious with your favourite dipping sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 small white onion, cut into 1.25cm thick rounds and separated into rings
- 60g panko breadcrumbs (about 1 cup)
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 240ml buttermilk (about 1 cup)
- 65g plain flour (about ½ cup)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare Onion Rings:
Slice the onion into 1.25cm thick rounds and separate into individual rings. - Make Breading Mixture:
In a bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, smoked paprika, and salt. Set aside. - Make Egg Mixture:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until well combined. - Preheat Air Fryer:
Set your air fryer to 188°C and allow it to preheat. - Coat Onion Rings:
Dredge each onion ring in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. - Spray and Cook:
Spray the coated onion rings generously with non-stick cooking spray. Place them in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket. Cook in batches at 188°C for 10 minutes or until golden brown, spraying between batches for even cooking. - Serve:
Serve hot with your favourite dipping sauce.
Notes:
- For extra crunch, double coat the onion rings by repeating the dipping process.
