Marinated in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, then coated in cornflour, the tofu turns out perfectly crisp on the outside and tender inside. It’s ideal as a snack, or as a protein boost for stir-fries, salads, or rice bowls.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 16–18 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 225g firm tofu, cut into 2.5cm cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons cornflour (cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Tofu:
Place the tofu cubes in a shallow bowl. Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, and toss to coat. Leave to marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Air Fryer:
Set your air fryer to 188°C and allow it to preheat.
  3. Coat with Cornflour:
Drain any excess marinade from the tofu. Toss the tofu cubes in cornflour until they are evenly coated.
  4. Air Fry the Tofu:
Arrange the coated tofu cubes in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket.
Set the air fryer to cook for 18 minutes.
  5. Shake Halfway:
Shake the basket halfway through cooking to ensure the tofu crisps evenly.
  6. Serve:
Once the tofu is golden and crispy, remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes:

  • For extra flavour, serve with your favourite dipping sauce, or add to stir-fries, salads, or grain bowls.
  • For best results, ensure the tofu is firm and well-pressed before marinating.

This recipe is quick, healthy, and a brilliant way to enjoy tofu with a satisfying crunch.
